SIEGETIDE
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Early Access is live! The full game is out now: no wave limit, the complete war tree and an online leaderboard. The free demo (up to wave 20) is still available below.
You are the horde.
Every tower defense game asks you to hold a line. SIEGETIDE asks you to break one, and then tells you that you can't.
You never place a tower. Between waves you build a camp — pits, huts, a witch's tent — and raise the units you can afford. Then you send them down the path and watch what the defender has prepared for them.
The wall answers back. The defender isn't a fixed wave table. It looks at what you sent last time and spends its income accordingly: ballistae against big armoured targets, detectors once you bring stealth, upgrades where you hurt it most. After every wave the path grows by one more module, and the walk to the gate gets longer.
There is no victory. The run ends when your horde can no longer reach the gate. Your score is the wave you died on.
What's in the game
- Eight unit types — grunts, ogres, shamans, rams, assassins and more, with armour and stealth that actually change the maths
- Ten tower types the defender can choose from — fire, acid and spike works join from module 30 — and an AI that chooses on purpose
- Elite bulwarks with a bounty on their heads, and eight secret building fusions to discover (one of them is a walking tower)
- A blood market of 90 cards between waves, including ten spells you cast mid-battle, paid for in blood magic from your witch's tent and from every tower your horde tears down
- A war tree of 72 nodes between runs, with twelve warlords at its centre
- Save and resume — late runs can take a couple of hours
- Online leaderboard, monthly and all-time: sign in with itch.io, and replay anyone's seed
- Windows, macOS and Linux. No account needed to play.
Free demo: the same game, ending at wave 20 with up to 5 war tree points. It can view the leaderboard but not submit to it.
How far do people get? My own test bot dies somewhere between wave 9 and 20, depending on what it builds. I'd like to know where you end up — there's a feedback button inside the game, and comments are open here.
The trailer shows wave 32 with the war tree fully unlocked. Early Access means the game keeps growing: balancing, graphics and content will change with updates, and the price will rise as more content arrives.
Solo project, made in Unity. More at siegetide.com.
